Hi everyone.

Things here have been very busy, and I haven't had time to write things down. I'm actually dictating this using my new iPhone, because I don't have time to sit and type. Aliza's grandmother passed away last night and we'll be heading to Rochester for the funeral on Sunday. Understandably, things have been very hectic.

I promise that there'll be a longer post with some more interesting things later on but I just don't have the time right now.

A Halloween candy idea for those that want to try it:

Marshmallows shaped like famous English diarists. I shall call them Samuel Peeps.

It's Shaun of the Dead meets the IDF on Passover. How can that not be awesome...

…Steve Jobs would have lived long enough to get his conciousness uploaded.

My parents bought an Apple ][c when I was about 5 or so. it was the family computer until I graduated from high school. As far as I know, I could still pull it out of my parents' closet and play Carmen Sandiego or Neuromancer, if I was so inclined.

Sad news, if unsurprising. My condolences to his family and friends.

We're auditioning a new babysitter this afternoon. Essentially, that means Aliza and I hide in our office for two hours while the sitter does her thing.

Aside from some inital crying, it's gone pretty well.

Dear random Hebrew Childrens CD Singer Person,

If you want your album to be taken seriously, it'd help if you could actually speak Hebrew. Seriously.

Very glad that we found your CD at the library...

-Mildly overpowered First Aid kit? Check.

-Five gallon thingus of water we've had sitting around since the Aquapocalypse last summer? Check.

-glow sticks or flashlights stashed in most rooms? Check.

-Food? Check.

-phone? Plugged in to charge, femtocell in the closet in case the cell network goes down, but internet stays up. Just need to plug it in (assuming power stays up....)

-Baby? Adorable!

-I'm awfully bearded right now. I'm more than a little concerned about whether or not RAB will recognize me after shave next week and am a little more baby-faced.

-Aliza's catching up on some older TV shows recorded on our DVR. One show had a commercial for some music awards program that touted a combined performance of New Kids on the Block, and the Backstreet Boys. That strikes me as the equivalent of one of the special mult-Doctor episodes of Doctor Who, only awful.

-Here's a link to BBC coverage of STS-1

Why are you chewing on my kneecap?

Aliza and I saw the final Harry Potter film last night. It seems like, along with access to magic, wizards are also blessed with a superhuman level of resistance to damage. Seriously, these guys get zapped, blown up, thrown off of cliffs and set on fire, and all they get for their troubles are rugged looking scrapes and scorchmarks.

spoilers for the very end of the film )

When watching a film in a foreign language, you need to actually pay attention to the subtitles, or you lose the plot.

That said, I'm enjoying The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo a lot.

Does anybody want a Google Plus invite? Let me know.

I may have to do this with RAB when she's old enough...

-Shavuot was lots of fun. Potlucks were held, dessert was eaten for lunch, there was cheesecake and blintzes.

-RAB's Canadian citizenship certificate arrived. It's probably tied with her passport for cutest diplomatic document photo ever.

-I've just finished reading Daniel Wilson's Robopocalypse. While extremely entertaining, it felt a bit like World War Z with robots and rampant AI.

-I'm considering upgrading my macbook to OSX 10.7 when it's released this summer. I'll need to get some more RAM first, and it looks like my laptop will still be at the bottom of the upgrade curve.

Holy $#!^

A certain young lady went three days without a number two. Her streak* ended today during daycare. Looking at the bag of dirty clothing that got sent home with her, I'm not sure whether to call a dry cleaner or an exorcist. Maybe I should just get a flamethrower...

*pun slightly intentional.

RAB has figured how to reliably roll over from her back to her front. Each time she does so, the timeline runs something like this:

-For the first twenty to thirty seconds, she seems very proud of herself, and smiles at everyone in the room.

-Immediately after this, she remembers just how much she hates being on her stomach, and gets frustrated and upset until someone rolls her back over. Thus far, she's only been able to roll herself from front to back once.

-About twenty minutes ago, I peeked in on RAB as she slept. She had managed to roll herself over, and seemed uncomfortable. I rolled her back and she settled down, all without waking up.

Today marks my tenth blogoversary.

I could write something about how much that means to me, and what a long, strange trip it's been.

That said, my daughter's asleep, my wife's in the living room, and Doctor Who is calling me from the DVR, so I'll spend some time with them, instad.
