On the road again...
Safe and sound in Toronto, after way too much driving. (see previous phonepost)
But first, a pre-travel encounter.
The scene:
reporteraliza and I are sitting in Rubin's (the local Kosher deli in Brookline, MA) waiting for dinner before hitting the road. Seated behind us are three elderly women in the middle of their own meal. The following conversation ensued:
Little old lady #1: We're talking about a menage a trois. There were two ladies and a man, and the ladies were having relations, and the men were having relations....
Little old lady #2: Oy vey.
Thankfully, I was able to keep myself from cracking up, but it was a close thing.
Thus far, Toronto seems more or less like the US, but with the metric system and Tim Horton's instead of Dunkin' Donuts. Even the morning drivetime newsradio sounds the same, down to the announcers and the bumpers they use before different news segments. The woman at the border was gruff, and asked a pile of questions, but nothing too prying.
and now, lunch.

*do* try and find time to visit the Silver Snail (367 Queen St. W) - great comic book store although their customer service has started to decline ...

There's a really great large-ish bookstore there; I forget what it's called but one of their slogans was "Books so cheap even people what don't read too good is buying them."
I remember driving under a sign that said "Drink Canada Dry" and everyone in the car exclaimed "We're trying!!!"
