Military question...

If I was interested in obtaining the service records of my grandfathers, who would I contact?

The VA wasn't very helpful.

This has a few links that you can find, I found my grandfather's WWII records from there.
Geneologists can find all manner of records, and the Mormon and Jewish geneology sites are all very thorough.

The military personnel records center at St. Louis has a website:

http://www.archives.gov/st-louis/military-personnel/

While they can't take requests for military records through email, there is a form that can be downloaded, filled, printed and snail-mailed to them.

The best part is, writing them actually works!

Might have a tough time being a grandchild, though.
They like daughter/son/spouse relationships. Easier to investigate.

Yes it takes time. Send it and forget it, you'll get a great surprise in your mail one day!
