Military question...
If I was interested in obtaining the service records of my grandfathers, who would I contact?
The VA wasn't very helpful.

This has a few links that you can find, I found my grandfather's WWII records from there.
Geneologists can find all manner of records, and the Mormon and Jewish geneology sites are all very thorough.

The military personnel records center at St. Louis has a website:
http://www.archives.gov/st-louis/military-personnel/
While they can't take requests for military records through email, there is a form that can be downloaded, filled, printed and snail-mailed to them.
