Wait, this happened in synagogue, that needs more appropriate language.

So, nu, there I was, it was about twenty minutes until the holiday ended, and services had reached that fever pitch they usually do. The atonement was flying fast when...

Some kid pulls the fire alarm.

Due to the previously practiced evacuation plan, we got the building emptied out in under three minutes without any fuss, then went back in after the FD came through, and finished up.

Conversation with dad today...

Me: "Dad? Ever get the feeling that all this chestpounding and repentence might not work?"

Dad: "Every year."

Makes one think.

Were you in the main shul or in the social hall? The women's section in the smaller minyan moved so quickly, I could hardly believe it (I anticipated people taking it as an opportunity to shmooze).
