Control

It's all about control, and how I don't have it over the things that matter.

Everything glides along, smooth as silk until the smallest, most innocuous thing pops up, and reminds me how much other people have control over me, whether I like it or not, and whether they're entitled to or not.

It is my life, right?

I, of course, don't know the context...
but yes, it is your life :)
It's just that part of it being your life is how you handle the things you don't have control over.
It isn't easy.

The most frustrating thing for me is when I do everything I can, everything I'm *supposed* to, and I'm still held up because of what someone *else* doesn't do. It's like running in place. I know how you feel. I fully admit I don't handle things that are out of my control very well. I'm like, as long as I'm in control, I know it will get done because it NEEDS to be done. It's the shit that doesn't get done because someone else (higher up than me) drops the ball that makes me insane.

My college advisor used to say "Life is 10% action and 90% reaction". I finally decided that there's about 10% of my life I can control. The rest of the time my life is reacting to what goes on around me. Hence I tend to be proactive about 'reacting' - I feel more in control that way.

But sad isn't it, how much of our lives are run by other people/groups/etc.

Yes, it is.
