On the one hand...

Given all of the hubbub around the recent change in the TSA's screening procedures and "enhanced" patdowns, I'm really glad that I'm not flying until at least February. Hopefully that'll give somebody higher up the food chain time to evaluate things, and come up with a better alternative.

On the other hand, I'll be traveling with an infant, which will definitely change the tenor of things no matter what.

I got patted down only once on my last extended business trip and the guy didn't even buy me dinner. I felt so cheap

If this is who I think it is (hi Dad!), your last business trip involved going to Israel, where their airport security makes sense...

Yes it's me. I went through security in 5 other countries on that trip and none of them make you go through the same kind of hoops as they do here. Noone else makes you take off your shoes. Most just have you empty your pockets and go through the scanner. however everyone does make you take out your laptop to go through the scanner separate.

They had a new enhanced scanner thing in CMH today. It wasn't working right so i was redirected into the normal metal detector, no pat-down.

Of course the new enhanced scanner can't cope with anything being in your pockets, like a wallet or cash based on the instructions i overheard, so ...

We were relieved to find that you get to go into a special line, and they were really nice about all the baby equipment. You do have to plan out what you need to take though.

I walked through the scanner (old style) holding him. One time it didn't beep so we were fine. One time it did beep so they ran a wand over me and him, but I still got to hold him.
