In just under an hour, assuming all goes well...

The shuttle will have a night launch.

According to a co-worker, it should be visible from a good chunk of the east coast.

I'm planning on perching on my front steps, looking northeast.

The last story I saw about this said south/southeast, but yes, that. Apparently naked eye will be possible and binoculars will be better.

I just wish there was a way for me to get to my roof.

Once, once upon a time - my flight was delayed leaving Miami. There was no real explanation.

Until we got in the air, and the pilot excused it by saying there was a night launch of a shuttle, and he wanted to be in the air over Orlando when it happened.

It was.... magnificent.

I hope to see either a shuttle or Orion launch at some point.
