Honestly, I'm not at all offended and more than a little amused by the experience.

It's rather funny- I've been through a few different airports lately, all of which had the air-puff machine, and none of which used it- until I was returning to NYC from Rochester. The Rochester security sent everyone through said machine, and also looked through my purse (I had a thing of rolled coins in it, which no one at La Guardia had noticed at all). I'm not sure why the Rochester airport is so much more careful- maybe they'd be bored if they weren't so meticulous?
