I'm pretty sure this was either written by Phillip K. Dick or Harlan Ellison:

A woman is pregnant, and never goes into labor. Eventually, they figure out a way to communicate with the "baby" (who's a teenager), but when they finally go in to get him surgically, he's vanished.

Anyone think they could shed some light?

If the story ends with the woman making telephatic communication with the baby, learning that he's a math/physics genius who teaches her the nature of time, and after he vanishes, she's attacked by hoodlums, and she grabs a knife of time to threaten them with, I don't know who wrote it, but I think it's in _Epoch_.

If not, then I can't really help.

I don't think that was it. I don't remember the story ending on that complicated a note.

Found it
