It's amazing what you can find in Wikipedia. Whether that's a good thing or not I can't tell. :)

I'm vastly amused by the following statement from the linked article:

The word "than" is usually replaced with the word "from," because the Yiddish word "fun" (German: "von") expresses both meanings. For example, the standard Yeshivish sentence: "Litvaks are different from Chassidim."

Why am I amused by this? Because "different from" is the construct preferred (over "different than") by many usage guides.
