-Happiest of happy birthdays to Serenity/Firefly actor Ron Glass, and to my bigger-but-younger brother Hyim.

-Hebrew language practice for today was the Hebrew version of Wikipedia's article on the Scopes Trial, which began on this day in 1925.

-I've been poking around trying to get things set up for my state licensure exam. Headaches involved: I need my transcript (not too tough, just need to shlep out to the registrar's office) three reference letters (a lot of make-work, IMO), and the exam fee's hefty. Also, I need to get the application notarized. Does anyone know of a Notary Public in the Boston area?

Do you need a personal or character reference? I would be happy to provide one if you ever need one in your professional life.

Best of luck with the app!

Thanks. :-) The app needs two professional and one supervisory, so I'm just calling my old supervisors and folks from my internship.

My boss' boss is a Notary Public, and she does Notary stuff all the time (we're in Kendall).

The real estate office on the opposite side of Harvard St. from the Butcherie -- it's the one that's kind of in a hole in the ground right by Ruth's Kitchen -- has a notary. (I happened in there one day to ask if anyone knew where to find a notary for some patent stuff from a former job, and some woman raised her hand.) Indeed, many real estate offices and banks have notaries. The Realtors, however, are more likely to do it gratis, in exchange for remembering their good name.

Most banks have notaries. If you would here I would do it for you. But that's pretty far. I would waive the $1 fee!
