My internet's been acting screwy. Webpages won't load on IE or Firefox, and I occasionally won't be able to check my e-mail. Other programs (IM clients, Second Life, BitTorrent, etc.) all work fine.

I've tried:

-power-cycling my router and cable modem and rebooting my computer.

-clearing my caches and disabling my firewall (at the suggestion of someone from tech support, when it didn't help, I re-enabled it.)

Any ideas?

I wonder, given the relative geographic proximity of our apartments, whether they have some sort of regional problem that's sapping the signal strength. I do know that at one point we had a problem that was traced to our entire street -- I think something about the signal had actually been too strong, which somehow cancelled itself out and resulted in bad service.

We flirt with the RCN idea every now and then, but I had friends who use them who once ended up without any internet at all for two weeks, and despite all the frustration Comcast has bestowed upon us, they've never put us through that. Of course, threatening to switch to RCN is an entirely different matter...
