Have finished the episode, thought it was awesome, although Michele Forbes' acting was a bit flat.

Okay, the rape scene.

Good:

-I was actually horrified, and a little bit physically repulsed, which I suspect was their intent. Good acting by all the actors involved in the scene.

-Helo and Tyrol save Sharon without even thinking about it, despite their little punch-up last week. This made me actually shout "Hooray for responsible non-monogamy!" in my living room. :-)

Bad:

-The BSG-verse has previously been portrayed as intensely gender-equal, to the point of mixed-sex bathrooms and bunks, and men and women each being able to hold any rank or position. That Adm. Kaine would be willing to condone rape, even of a Cylon (Sharon on Galactica and not-Six's multiple assaults on Pegasus) strikes me as a bit much.

Don't get me wrong, the episode is one of my favorites so far, but this one scene bothered me.

Now I have to wait 'til January. Foo.

I thought it very predictable, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. What I didn't think of ahead of time was Apollo and Starbuck being transferred, and all that that entailed. Something else I can't figure out is why Pegasus is even operational, since it's a newer ship with (presumably) networks.. wouldn't the cylons be able to shut it down? I can imagine Sharon plugging into the optical link and sending out the signal that jams all the Peg-vipers and Peggy herself. But that's just a SWAG on my part.
