Y'know, CNN.com really ought to just change their headline to "DOOOOOM!!!"

It gets the point across faster.

Is that headline for New Orleans, Iraq, Afghanistan, terrorism or civil rights?

So the new style CNN ticker would have:

DOOOOOOOOOM!!! [logo] DOOOOOOOOOOM!!! [logo] STOCK: WTF ↑ 2.0 OMG ↓ 1.7 [logo] DOOOOOOOOOM!!!

They're extended ASCII characters, I think. They should be near the box drawing ones in character map.

Would still be better than the directives coming out of the FoxNews ticker which are propagandistic directives...
"Don't play blame game" isn't informational, it's an order.

It could be worse.

"Don't play blame game; play Game of Life" would be propagandous, tactless and corporatist - in other words, FauxNews all over.

Weather Channel should just change it's name to 'Let's See If Jim Cantore Survives This Fucking Storm'

To be fair, I think it's the first storm he's actually, y'know, been in...

We used to say we wanted him on our beach because the hurricanes don't like him.

"In fact, it is dangerous to be near water during this time. The waves are high, and there is a high risk of rip tides. And now, I will stand waist deep in the ocean, telling you just how danger... OH MY GOD THE WAVES!! THEY *glub* HAVE ME *glub* AND I *glub glub* CAN'T *glub* BREAK FREE!! *glub glub* *drowning* And back to you in your nice dry studio hundreds of miles away from any major bodies of water."

i wrote that in this entry (http://www.livejournal.com/users/hellpaladin2183/52541.html) a few days before the storm. i mean, when tress start flying, shouldn't they say "Screw this". i'd be running, because the only tree i like is one stuck in the ground, and not flying at my head at 90+ mph.
