- Driving the Toyota Prius rocks hard. It's like driving a starship.

-In a vaguely weird role-reversal, two young men got on line behind me at the grocery store, chatting in Arabic. One of them noticed my yarmulke, and muttered something about the "yahud" to his friend. His friend looked at me, got a very nervous expression, then changed checkout lanes.

I feel like I should learn how to say "I know what you just said!" in as many languages as possible. :-)

Try a simple "Salaam Aleichum" and see what you get. :-)

Oh, I've done that before, thanking a cashier in Arabic tends to get me a big grin.

That sounds emminently more useful than my friend who has collected how to say "I am a fish" in abotu 200 languages now...

You have no idea.

Next time I need it, I should take a bunch of people along for the ride.

There's no key! You push a button on the dashboard, and the car boots up. The engine doesn't even start 'til you hit a certain speed.

I hear tell you cannot let a Prius run out of gas or you have to bring it to the dealership to be rebooted. Just FYI...

This was the zipcar that I signed out for an hour to do my groceries, they never let the tank go below 1/4.

Oh yeah, I heard about those zipcars.
That's a great idea, if they had that when we lived in Brooklyn, maybe the Warden would have given up the car we moved from one side of the street to the other like the tide coming in.

They changed checkout lanes? What were you going to do in a grocery store? Poke them with a banana?
