It's not just you. Especially in Seasons 1-3 Daniel had a bad habit of getting killed and then resurrected by sarcophagus. In season 4-5 he finally learned how to use a gun, and stay alive.

he "ascends" (read "dies" and turns into an energy being) and then becomes a human again for season 7
spoiler for season 8
only to reascend (and then become mortal *again*) with the help from a fellow energy being who I think says, "next time you're on your own".
