Stupid goy question, if you don't mind... how do you kasher a microwave?

I've relayed your story to Whirlpool, and I really think you ought to consider sending it to GE. Who knows, there might be a shiny new microwave/range hood in it for you (or the apartment owner). Honestly, having a microwave run spontaneously and continue to run with the door open is a SERIOUS problem, even if it did happen under abnormal circumstances.

It depends on the model, because of the different types of materials that can be used to make the walls of a microwave oven.

For mine, cleaning the microwave oven well, then boiling a cup of water in the microwave until it's completely filled with steam usually does the trick.

(the cup melts, too.)
