First there's all the fuss about Terry Schiavo's feeding tube, now the pope's on a naso-gastric feeding tube. It's almost like a fashion statement or something. Apparently, feeding tubes are the new black.
I'll betcha a dollar that there are pools betting which one will go first. (I know there are plenty of pools for when each will go individually.)
*sigh*
It made me sad, though, seeing the pictures of the Pope on Easter. I am not a big Pope fan -- religious authorities in general make me twitch, and having spent my childhood in a Catholic home in a parish that more or less blew off papal authority without telling the Vatican, I have an ingrained lack of interest in his opinion -- but it was so sad to see him holding his mouth and clutching at his head, unable to speak. How sad it must be to see the end of a career that one thinks is ordained by God, to have one's only role for decades be stuttering to a close, and to be mentally astute and able to observe the whole thing from within.
