My friend Jennifer's going to be in San Francisco next week, and has no idea of what to do when she's there. Anyone have any suggestions?

Is this a first visit? Do the touristy stuff that we did when we were there a few weeks ago. Check out Fisherman's Wharf, eat clam chowder from a bowl of sourdough bread, walk through Chinatown, see Golden Gate Park and the Presidio, go up to Twin Peaks.

It's touristy, sure, but it's fun.

For something less touristy and slightly more cultural, still do Chinatown, but try Dolores Mission, North Beach cafes, the Haight disctrict.

What does she like doing?

That'd be my question. SF has such varied and fun things, but it depends so much on a person's interests. I don't send everyone to the hand-stitched (with local wildflowers) communion kneeler at the lovely Grace Cathedral, or to Castro Street, or the Exploratorium, or across the bay to the steam trains at Tilden Park.

Very touristy: Fisherman's Wharf.

Not so touristy: GG Park, the Presidio, our great zoo, Chinatown.

She could probably, depending on the dates, catch a ball game at SBC Park.
