The continuing apartment hunt...

Looked at a place in Brookline last night.

I'd be paying $750 a month as my share of $2350 not counting utilities. The apartment's absolutely gorgeous. It's *huge.* Three bed, two bath, small kitchen alcove, large dining room, with a living room and a small den. (and it's right down the block from mabfan and gnomi, an added plus)

Points to ponder:

-Like the last place, the two guys who're there now are planning on leaving when the lease is up on 8/31/04. So I'd have to try and find two more roommates at the end of that time, or risk moving out in just four months.

-It's just a wee bit out of my price range. If I were staying at McLean, this wouldn't be much of an issue. Since I'll be changing jobs in the fall, I run the risk of being jobless for a while, not to mention that I'll probably be making less as an EMT than I am right now.

In essence, I'll probably have to pass on this one, although I really wish I didn't have to.

Anyone feel like moving to Brookline?

*blinks* It appalls and amazes me that the rent for that apartment is a mere $11 more than I'm paying for my current place. Frickin' Ann Arbor thinks it's hot.

a thought concerning your first point:

you may want to talk with the landlord about the roommates-moving-out issue. some of my past landlords have offered to help with the roommate-finding process (though i've never taken them up on it).

Ah. negotiations are going on with the current tenants, not the landlordy.

Think I'm going to pass, though. The price would start getting uncomfy once I leave McLean.

(Of course, given that our names are on the lease, this would leave browngirl and jadasc in the lurch, unless they also moved with us.)

cough...cough.....that is so freaking expensive. i can barely afford $500 a month apts here. Actually, I can't afford them at all. But gah NY is expensive. The whole East coast is, ya crazy bastards.
