On a.c sometime after I met Wolf. I think my first awareness of you as a person rather than "that interesting a.c poster" was when one or both of you mentioned that Wolf got to be your ISP customer service person one day.

Absolutely, but not in a frum environment, for obvious reasons.

I admire you in many ways, not least your ability to commit to full Jewish observance. I also admire your ability to take a step back and look at all sides of an issue. And from what I've seen, you're a good and loyal friend. Sometimes you're overly emotional or self-deprecating; this happens to everyone.

Do you know something about me that no one else knows?

Probably not.

Yes.

Hmmm. I told you you're handsome up above, so I guess that doesn't count.

Probably not, I have my life partner already. If you were poly, though, I'd date you.

As I said to Kshandra, only in very extreme circumstances when you yourself wanted to die.

Someone who groks both fandom and observant Judaism, is generally open-minded, and is fun to be with.

*thinks* The only time I've ever gotten really annoyed with you has been in conversations about Israel... so probably there's something you say then which always irks me.

I have such a bad memory. I just remember Tigerlily saying "this is Ari! from alt.callahan's" as she showed me a slender handsome intense young Jewish-looking man.

When did we meet?
My freshman year of college, during Rosh Hoshana break (yours, not mine). We'd talked over a.c. before, and emailed privately, but that was our first in-person meeting.

How did we meet?
At the T in Davis Square. You held a copy of Spider Robinson, I had a rose. We hung out.

More times than I can count. We used to talk on the phone for hours. You've read me to sleep over the phone a number of times.

Yes. It's heartwrenching.

Yes. If no other time, at your sister's bat mitzvah. You keep telling me that you dance like a white boy.

Tender. Thoughtful. Giving. (Intense, as well, but not the first word that came to mind.)

You know what? I'd really love to go to NYC with you and hang out with your friends again. Spend the day in museums and shopping, then go to a Broadway show at night. End up singing on the streets again, and playing red rover (with less delicate clothing).

Well, if you count the halfawake dreams I've had next to you ... those're the only ones I remember, although I suppose I could go back into my journals. I know I've dreamt of you, but I don't remember what.
