A good night...

Went to Passim tonight to listen to James O'Brien.
The first thing I see when I walk through the door was (drumroll)
Natalie Freakin' Portman.
No joke, knock me over with a feather.
She was there having dinner witha friend, and left shortly after I arrived.
Crystal was supposed to be joining me tonight, but she was in a small accident, involving her car and a ditch. Thank God she's okay.
I struck up a conversation with a woman at the table next to mine, whom I saw reading a copy of Stranger in a Strange Land. We talked about sci-fi for a bit, and I found out she was dating the lead act's younger brother, which was pretty cool.
The concert itself was awesome, and I had a great time once I found out Crys was alright.
At the end of the set, James started talking about how Club Passim used to be called Club 47, and eas located a few blocks away, and nobody had played music there in decades, since it was turned into a minimart. He then unplugged his guitar, and started walking out, playing. Everyone followed him out to the old site, which was a good ten minute walk. People were talking with each other, laughing and making introductions. It was great. Very reminiscent of Andy Kaufman's "I'd like to take my audeince out for milk and cookies" thing.
After a song at the minimart, people were still hanging out. I introduced myself to James, and offered Crys' regrets. He'd gotten a message from her and said something along the lines of "You're Ari, aren't you?" which produced a very fanboyish gush out of me, but anyway...
