Gosh, that sounds remarkably like the argument I used in Hebrew school when I was eleven and got scolded for saying "God" and "Adonai" instead of "HaShem." Neither one of those is ACTUALLY the name of God, after all.

Thing is, "Adonai" (written out in full here, since I'm doing it in an educational sense) is one of God's names, it's just not the Tetragrammaton. He's got lots of names.
