Okay, I'm writing a paper on the healthcare systems of different countries, and I've hit a snag with the UK.

While the local websites I've visited have been helpful, they don't tell me a few key facts:

-Where the funds come from

-Do patients need to pay for services when they receive them, or are they free?

But I believe this is the official UK govt site for their health care plan, including government reports.
Checking that map meme shows you've got at least one LJ friend in the UK; may want to see if she uses IM to ask her directly.

The Citizens Advice Bureau includes a 2001 report on health charges and other documents on charges for residential & home care

An adviceguide on who receives free treatment from NHS, which led me to

BINGO! NHS Charges

I think that takes care of the cost side of things (is that sufficient?), which leaves research into funding
