Yay for more RAM, but this leaves me with a few questions.

I've got a PIII 667MHZ with a 20 GB hard drive and 384MB of RAM.

Is it worth upgrading to WinXP from Win98SE? (I'll get better bluetooth support between my handheld and my PC, but that alone isn't much of a convincing factor.)

Is there much difference between XP Home and Professional, other than the $200 difference on the price tag?

IIRC, the big difference between XP home and pro are the networking options. Pro has more.

and Microsoft stopped supporting W98 this year so fixing bugs features could get problematic.

Not a lot of difference between XP pro/home, except in the networking and permissions type stuff.

BUT

XP really prefers to run on about 512 MB of memory. It will work with what you have, but if you like to do lots of multi-tasking, it will bog down pretty hard.

As to should you upgrade, the answer to that will depend a lot on what you use your machine for...

RAM alone is worth it. 98SE can't properly manage that much ram and get all the use of it.

Hasn't M$ also stopped producing security patches for Win98? At a minimum I'd consider upgrading to Win2K, if only because security patches are important these days.
