This time, it's back at Walker.

"But Ari," you'll say, "didn't you work there this past summer?"

"Yes." I'll reply.

"But Ari, didn't working there drive you a little bit nutty?"

"Somewhat, until I finally learned how to build up a coping mechanism. Unfortunately, that didn't kick in until my last week there..."

"So, why do you want this job?"

"Well, I'll be doing residental work, instead of classroom. That was the part of the job I did as overtime this summer, and I absolutely loved it. It was much more laid back than clasroom work, and I felt it was a lot easier to connect with the kids, and not get bogged down by their individual issues, since we weren't in a structured, classroom environment. There is structure, since the kids need it, but it doesn't feel that way to them, and it's easier to deal with.

"Also, the bennies are top notch. Full medical, optional dental, $1000 quarterly bonus, a raise in six months, and twenty-seven paid vacation days. That means I can probably do Callahanicon and maybe even Falconridge again, if things work out in that direction.

"I'd love to go to C-con this summer, even with all the Shabbat issues. There are so many people I'd like to meet and hang out with. People I've known for years, but haven't met will be there, it should be really cool.

"Walker also has one of the best salaries around, except for temp positions, which was my one gripe with them last summer.

"So, wish me luck."

I'm hesitant to say, "Go for it" and all, but I DO realize that you learned a lot by the time you finished the summer at Walker. I think you'd deal with it better this time around, if you do manage to find a schedule that works around Shabbat. Just don't forget to use your coping mechanisms and don't use up any one method of dealing with the stress. *Especially* don't wear out any one friend in dealing with the stresses of whatever job you end up taking.

Good luck, Ari. I'm rooting for you. :)

Turns out, they don't have any openings in the Sun-Wed. slot right now.

With the high turnaround they have, something may open up in a few weeks, so we'll see...

I start training at Baycove tomorrow morning. I really don't want the job, but a bird in the hand...
