So, in the US' efforts to "bring democracy" to the Iraqis, they've got constitutional law experts and Islamic law experts helping draft a theoretical Iraqi constitution. The thing that amuses me is...

This guy went to my high school... )

I'm not sure if it's irony, but it's definitely entertaining.

Sent my resume out to a couple of places, and did some poking around.

Northeastern has a non-Saturday EMT course that will run from June 9-Aug. 26 that I could take in the mornings if I don't find a job, and the evenings if I do.

So, theoretically, I could get a summer job while I take EMT courses, then get an EMT job in the fall.

[livejournal.com profile] hakmadare, since you asked, the info's at http://www.ems.neu.edu/emt.html

This, combined with the way other things have been going lately, cheers me greatly.

Now I'm off to send out more resumes, drop off my cleaning, and watch Dogma. Snoogans.

The Treasury Department unveiled a new $20 bill design that will debut in the fall...

By changing bill designs every few years, they're going to make it more and more difficult for time travellers to pass themselves off in our society. Honestly, people!

Kudos to [livejournal.com profile] hakmadare for pointing out the scheduling dilemma at Northeastern.

Heard from BU about their program.

$150 cheaper with Saturday classes. Explained to the coordinator that I'm Shabbat observant. He told me it wouldn't be a problem, and detailed the Saturday classes.

"Well, the first Saturday class is CPR certification..."

I'm already CPR certified, and they'll be rescheduling that day to a Sunday, anyway.

"The second one is the only class dealing with electronics, and that's just to use an automatic defibrilator..."

I'm already AED certified as well, and the guy said I'd be able to observe rather than use.

So I'm golden. Also, BU's course is near where I live, so there won't be any huge Saturday walks. The gentleman I spoke with said they've had observant Jews before, and it's never been a problem, so I'm excited. He also pronounced my name correctly, which was a pleasant surprise.

Mom seems to think getting an EMT cert is a good idea for me.

"Let's face it, Ari. You're not going to be the type who's going to get an MSW so he can work at a JCC with the old folks, you're going to want to work with at-risk populations, so you'll need these skills."

I think she's just excited to have another family member working in Emergency Medicine. Also, I'll have more to kvetch about when I watch Third Watch and ER.

For crying out loud...

If you don't know that junk food is bad for you, it's your own damned fault. It's not called junk food for nothing, y'know...
