Saw this one mentioned on the support page. See if http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=115 is of any use. They're saying "[m]any Internet Service Providers are blocking LiveJournal comment email as 'spam'" so that could be the case if your ISP has made any changes recently.
