Does anyone know where I can take a computer to get recycled?

It's sevrely broken, stripped for parts, and old enough that donating it to an institution would be useless, and I've heard of various component/computer recycling places in the area, I just can't seem to find 'em.

assuming the machine still exists...

first: check out TecsChange. They have a cool model where they teach inner city youth to repair computers, give them a computer at the end of the training session, and then send a bunch more computers to third world countries for use by social justice groups. www.tecschange.org.

However, from what you're describing, it's likely that it would be below their requirements. There are (at least) two other things to check out. 1) The basement of the Latin Academy building (Warren at Townsend Sts, Roxbury) has a computer recycling program in it. I'm pretty sure they recycle the component metals down. 2) Either Dell or HP will let you pay them $25-$50 for the privelege of them recycling your computer down to its component metals. 3) and there's always the MIT flea market.
