At around 7:30 last night, our CO detector went off. Aliza and I shut off the stove, grabbed jackets, and headed outside, where I called 911.
The fire department (along with an ambulance and cop car) showed up in under three minutes, and they spent the next hour tromping around the building waving tricorders around. In one part of the apartment, levels were briefly "elevated but not dangerous" before returning back to zero. We were told to call them if the detector went off again (duh), and they packed up and went off.
Our tax dollars at work.
