Caveat emptor?
Sep. 8th, 2006 06:38 pmThe free McAfee trial that I got when my shiny new computer first arrived is about to expire.
Should I renew?
I don't use the spam filter at all, as Outlook's filter is good enough for my uses.
I could switch back to Avast! for my antivirus needs. Is McAfee that much better? (Free, and a pirate name, what more could I want?)
Could anyone recommend a good free/cheap firewall? McAfee's is alright, but the built-in MS Windows firewall is so hands-off, I'm not sure I trust it.
Suggestions?
Shabbat Shalom, everyone!

Date: 2006-09-08 10:57 pm (UTC)I used Avast! for years and have had no problem. The windows firewall seems to do okay by me, you can get into the settings if you need to.
Honestly with a little care and careful email reading, you don't really need much of a virus checker.
