Holy Chocolate Mary, Batman?

I understand that the human brain is wired up specifically for kinds of pattern recognition, but why is it always the Virgin Mary?

I just don't get it. To quote Carlos Mencia, "Jews don't see Moses in a pastrami sandwich," why do Catholics perpetually see Jesus or Mary in chocolate or pancakes or a potato chip or goodness knows what?

(Okay, there was the talking fish in New Square that spoke Hebrew and predicted the end times, but that's just whacky...)
