It feels like it's been a while since I've posted about things in my life, and now seems as good a time as any.

-New job! I'm finishing up a temp contract at NEU this Friday, and I start my new job at Company X on Monday. I'm thinking about creating a work filter to discuss jobby things in, but I'm not 100% sure yet.

-New nephew! Went to Chicago two weeks ago for my nephew Benjy's bris. Everyone seems to be doing well, and the last time I checked, he's still cute.

Current plans- Start work on 8/21, travel to Toronto on Labor Day weekend for an old friend's wedding, start paying off my student loans, hooray hooray.

Does anyone in the Boston area have the contact info for a good financial planner? I'm probably going to want to meet with one once I've got some scratch saved up.

My dad's a financial consultant (as well as tax attorney), and I could put you in touch with him if you like. Not sure how much that helps.

Holler next time you go visit the family in Chicago. I will drive up and say howdy if you have time to spare!

We use the same person that R&M M and D&R B use. (I'm sure you can't figure out who that is from initials. I just don't want to use whole names.) Baseline cost is $300/year, I think, and she does all the paperwork to get various investments and stuff set up. We did not request budgeting advice, but I think she'll handle that as well. She's affiliated with Ameriprise, which means she pushes American Express products, but it's nigh impossible to find a planner who is not affiliated with SOME financial institution, so there ya go. Email me if you want contact info or more dirt on the person.
