I got a friendly notice saying I was on the shortlist for jusry duty for the next 12 months. It said you could claim exemption if you'd served on a jury within the last 3 years.
I served on a 6-week murder trial 3 years and 2 months ago.
That's 2 days before Yom Kippur. May want to request a deferral to not potentially conflict with the High Holidays (unless you want to use that fact to get out of jury duty upon questioning)
What's wrong with jury duty? It's your civic obligation! I'm actually annoyed I haven't been chosen yet. And it's not like you're working now anyway...
You know, you can call them and ask them to move it up. They might be willing to let you serve your time even next week, if you explain your situation.
When I was called for jury duty, I had it deferred to the summer because I was teaching. But the date they gave me was late in the summer, so I called again and asked if I could go earlier. And they said yes.

Can't hurt to try it.
