In no particular order:

1. Glory- Intense Civil War film. Also, the 54th was based out of my hometown.

2. Operation Thunderbolt- Great Israeli movie about Operation Thunderbolt (duh), the IDF saved hostages from a hijacked plane in Uganda. It reads like a Tom Clancy novel, but it's real. Many politicians played themselves in the film.

3. Not Without My Daughter- Maybe not "history," but based on real events.

4. Braveheart- While heavily modified from actual history, was still fun. I'm not much of a fan of Gibson anymore, but Braveheart's worth a look.

5. Uprising- Great TV movie about the Warsaw Ghetto rebellion. Features Hank Azaria and David Schwimmer in serious dramatic roles, which they play incredibly well.

Again, in no particular order, subject to change:

1. Snow Crash, by Neal Stephensen

2. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

3. All Souls: A family Story From Southie, by Michael Patrick MacDonald

4. Tough Jews: Fathers, Sons, and Gangster Dreams, by Rich Cohen

5. Asimov's Robot Mysteries, starting with "Caves of Steel". Childhood favorites.

Wow, two non-fiction books. I'm surprised. :-)

I don't quite see how this is problem-child-esque. :-)

Anyway, in no particular order.

1. Shabbat- I'm awfully fond of a mandated rest period.

2. Kosher- No, really. It's probably the single most prevalent mitzvah in my life, as it's something I need to be mindful of every day. Besides, there's a chance shellfish could kill me. :-)

3. Hachnasat orchim, having guests- largely because I'm so social.

4. This will definitely sound corny, but I like that Judaism has some form of requirement for a person to respect his/her elders. It's not something that I see very often in the world at-large, and my work with the elderly lately has really driven that home.

5. "Talmud Torah" Regular religious learning. It keeps my observance from becoming stagnant.

How's that?

Problem-child-esque because I'm not observant myself. :-)

It's a very cool list, Ari, and pretty appropriate for you!

1. Israel, all of it. :-)

2. England. I had a blast in London

3. New York City. There's something there for just about everyone

4. Seattle- It's just different enough from my hometowns that it's intriguing in some way

5- Upstate NY- Mostly because of my camping memories.

Shiny. I get the feeling you have much love for the Whedonness. :)

(Including new Doctor Who; I think it's pretty clear the writers are Whedon!fans)

1. "Jayne, my days of not taking you seriously have certainly come to a middle."

2. Said by Simon while Jayne spits on his whetstone to sharpen his knife at the dinner table. "Could you not do that while we're... Ever?!!" The delivery is everything.

3. "What? That sounds like something out of science fiction." "Honey, we live on a spaceship." "So?"

4. "Was it space monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?"

5. "If you take sexual advantage of that woman you will burn in a very special level of hell. A level saved only for child molesters, and people who talk in the theater."
