Serenity will be pre-screened in Boston on May 5!!!

The link to buy Boston tickets isn't loading yet, but if it does, and someone's able to buy tickets, call and see if I've gotten any yet?

(Yes, I want to get a large group of people to go, why do you ask?)

(and yes, I see movies during the first half of the Omer, and not the second, in case those of you who kno what the heck that means were wondering...)

i’m very interested in being part of said large group, especially since it’ll be sufficiently late at night that my class won’t conflict.

I know what that means, but I'm puzzled by "and not the second [half]". I can see not holding that restriction; I can see becoming more lenient after lag b'omer -- but why more stringest after? (Or, if you meant "half" literally, then a week or so earlier.) Just curious.

My fuzzy understanding is that we are supposed to be in mourning for a 32(?) day period during the Omer. The prevailing Ashkenazic custom in this country is to observe this from the begining of the Omer (second day of Pesach) until Lag B'Omer. The popular Sephardic custom is to observe this from the beginning of the month of Iyar through Shavuot. The Sephardic one actually makes a lot more sense, since there is an opinion that the entire month of Nisan, with Pesach in the middle, should be a time of joy.

Then there are those of us who choose to consider all of the Omer a period of mourning, but are really liberal about what we choose to do during that time (like go see movies or listen to music).
