Describing Frumster, an Orthodox Jewish dating website to a friend of mine:

"It's like the Stern lobby, but with hyperlinks."

(and if finding friends from high school and college, and laughing at how off-base their biographies are is wrong, then I don't want to be right...)

I remember a few days prior to Episode 2 coming out (aka erev Shavuot) my friend Avi and I sat in the Brookdale lobby playing with Star Wars toys. We got laughed at, but we were probably having more fun than everyone else there. :-)

I hit 25K in the Brookdale lobby in my first NaNo. It was packed, but when I checked my wordcount and saw 25K, I did a spontaneous happy dance. Good times, good times.

Too many Aris, too many Avis. Can't you all just change your names before I have to start nicknaming you all like I do with Davids?

Memo to Stern's management: I'm sure that somewhere in New York City, there's a firm that can silkscreen the design of your choice onto shirts with three-quarter-length sleeves, so that your students can demonstrate school spirit and dress modestly without subjecting themselves to the T-shirt-over-long-sleeves look.

Don't blame us, blame the people that named us.

I'm not blaming you- but if the people who named you were to rename you now, would you listen? Imagine going home or calling home and being told that from now one your name is {insert of one those weird names from Tanakh here], or even just some other name. Wouldn't you rather choose it yourself at this point in the game?
