Earlier today, I was telling [livejournal.com profile] reporteraliza about a conversation my brother Dani had with a judge at his internship. Dani had offered to get an all-green St. Patrick's Day yarmulke for one of the judges, the judge had jokingly opined that his "monsignor probably wouldn't approve."

The following conversation ensued.

[livejournal.com profile] reporteraliza: "What is a monsignor, anyway?"
Me: "I'm not sure. Maybe a more senior priest who isn't a Cardinal?"
[livejournal.com profile] reporteraliza: "I could e-mail Brother Guy and ask him."
Me: You could, but I suspect consulting the Vatican for this sort of question is probably overkill.

So, we chose to go the slightly more ecumenical route, and post to my blog, hoping someone can clue us in. :-)
