On 3PM Eastern, a moderate solar flare will hit the earth. At night, the Aurora Borealis may be visible as far south as Oregon and Illinois.

Cool! I once saw the aurora australis in a part of Australia that is latitudinally analogous to Florida. I'm hoping this aurora manages to be visible in northern California. (Why "crap"?)
