The entire event was fictional, if it had actually happened, I wouldn't be nearly as flippant, but a good deal more cynical. If a cat wanted to perform such an action, he or she would require opposable thumbs. Also, since a cat is much smaller than a human being, the current would probably barbecue the poor beast.

So, while a reasonably intelligent cat could figure such a thing out, it would behoove him or her to refrain. :-)
